I have just finished reading Wicked Game by P Nelson and I am left wondering. I have read all of the books that are part of The Cage Series and have enjoyed each and every one of them but this is the first one I don’t feel compelled to give a 5 star rating. Something about Master Keith and Hartley did not click for me. In BDSM books I feel it is imperative for the reader to connect to the Dom or Domme, depending on the book, as if the reader is also a submissive. I just did not trust the character of Master Keith. He seemed to worried about himself and his needs to be a truely good Dom and certainly not a good Sadist. If you get off on someone’s pain you also have to be prepared to offer them the safe haven of trust and affection after delivering that pain. He did not seem prepared to give that. He was so wrapped up in his persona that he seemed to forget the fundamentals of what her was doing in the first place. While he did find a level of redemption in the end, getting there was not a very pleasant journey. However, the underlying story of Master Flynn and Cara is truely heating up and it appears that they are finally getting their story continued in the next book of this series “As If The World Were Watching”. I can’t wait to read how the factors interfering in their relationship are finally vanquished allowing them to be together as they should have been all of this time.
So while I would not give this one 5 stars it is still a solid 4 star read worthy of your time, especially if you are a fan of the series. You will want to read the build up for the next book. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems for my honest review.
Happy Reading!😘
